I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and grew up on a hearty diet of books supplied by my fellow book-loving mom. When I proudly declared at age seven that I was one day going to be an author (a word I didn't quite know how to pronounce yet), no one was really that surprised. But sometimes it's easy to get distracted, and I found my way to law school instead. I studied hard, received my J.D. from the University of Southern California Law School, and spent a year working for a federal court judge. That was mostly fun, but guess what? I never forgot how much I loved to read and write! And so I finally decided to try writing a novel.  Eight short years later (okay, it didn't always feel that short), my dream has come true, and I get to spend my days caring for my family and writing books for the best audience in the world - you!

P.S. The fact that I get to daydream about dragons is the icing on the cake.

A Few Fun Facts

  • I love animals so much that they often find a way into my stories. We have one dog, one guinea pig, one fancy rat (I'm not trying to be pretentious; the "fancy" is important to most rats), and sometimes our family pet sits a hamster.

  • My husband, two daughters and I love to go on road trips and visit National Parks. Maybe we'll drive through your home state one day. So far, I think my favorite place to visit is New Mexico. The sky is the bluest blue I have ever seen.

  • I love chocolate chip cookies, holidays, Disneyland, I *try* to eat my veggies, and our home decor is what I like to call "messy/cozy/chic" - but mostly messy when I am on a writing deadline. Surprisingly, I have not yet been disqualified as a grown-up.
